⁃ Close your eyes... and listen to the clacking of the horse hooves hitting the stones at the bottom of the River, it's like melody for the ears no?
⁃ So it is grandpa 
⁃ Bathe the horses, "Mono" first and then "Garabato" and then you can take a dip.... 
⁃ Tomorrow we come back again? 
⁃ Yes don't worry, the river's not going anywhere.
He turned from his saddle to take one last look and said to the river:

⁃ Cierra los ojos… y escucha los chasquidos de los cascos chocando con las piedras en el fondo del Río, es como melodía para los oídos no?
⁃ Así mismo abuelo 
⁃ Baña a los caballos, “mono” primero y después a “garabato” y después puedes darte un chapuzón… 
⁃ mañana regresamos de nuevo? 
⁃ Si no te preocupes, que el río no va a ningún lado
Giró de su montura para darle un último vistazo y le dijo al río :
- Aquí te encomiendo a mi nieto, cuéntales tus historias, enséñales tus secretos…

about the artist


was born in the Eastern province of Las Tunas, Cuba. He began his studies at the Professional Academy of Visual Arts in the city of Las Tunas.

At 18, he made the long journey from Eastern Cuba to Havana to study at the prestigious Institute of Superior Arts. He began studying sculpture and was intrigued by so many mediums that he made a point of studying as many as he could, including printmaking, classic drawing, installation and oil painting.

His art is a fearless mix of many mediums, often overlapping. Almanza likes to leave clues and unfinished lines for the viewer, showing the many layers and processes behind each piece.

Almanza has exhibited extensively in Havana, as well as in the United States and Mexico. His art belongs to private collections in the United States, Mexico, Ghana, and South Africa.
